We love sharing our “Not a Model” photo shoots with you, but we thought it would be fun and useful to share some information behind the Gwynnie Bee models that we shoot all of our product images with. Today we introduce you to our newest Gwynnie Bee model!
Originally from Portland, OR where she got her start starring in films, Lea was urged by cast members to pursue a career in modeling. “With my lack of knowledge of the plus size industry, I found myself blowing the comments off because I’m a size 12/14. I picked up a People Magazine at a salon and saw Robyn Lawley’s feature. I was overwhelmed with happiness to see a woman of a healthy natural size doing so well and sending such a strong message. An actor put me in touch with a talent agency – not long after I found myself dropping out of nursing school and on a plane to New York.”
“That depends on the season. During the summer, I find myself wearing a classy summer dresses and TOMS. Winter and fall I love the layers! I tend to wear a hoodie with a faux leather jacket and skinny jeans with boots. I also tend to snag some ideas from The September Issue (aka Vogue’s September issue – if fashion were a religion this would be the bible.) as well. When spring comes around, I rock the bright colors! It has to be my favorite season here in New York.”
Anna Wintour. She is by far the most powerful woman in fashion and a strong role model for young woman everywhere. She exemplifies poise, discipline, and strength – all qualities that I strive for as a young woman pursuing a career in entertainment. If I dress with that personal pursuit of happiness, I tend to walk with more confidence.
Lea’s Gwynnie Bee Favorites:
“I loved modeling the Cherry Velvet dresses! They have that structure to them that makes them high quality, but they also have this sexy pin-up style that I love to rock while keeping it classy.”
Which Gwynnie Bee brands have you found offer the best fit for your body type?
Ralph Lauren and Calvin Klein. I have a very tall hourglass frame. As much as I love that about my body, it can be very challenging to shop for. Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren are my go-to brands because they both do a great job of adding sophistication to the simplicity of the American style. With my long torso, and full chest, I find it hard to find tops that offer full coverage. Calvin Klein’s tops are the best for long torsos. Ralph Lauren is amazing for my broad shoulders! I can’t stand it when jackets and blazers suffocate my shoulders and swallow my midsection.
