Adventures in Style: Alison of Wardrobe Oxygen

Every month, we ask one of our Gwynnie Bee members to take a style outside of their wheelhouse for a 24-hour test drive. This month we asked our featured influencer, Alison of Wardrobe Oxygen, to try something new in one of her favorite neighborhoods. Stepping outside her style profile, see how this fashionista became a romper convert!

My style is classic with touches of rocker chic and boho. One day you can find me in a blazer and tailored trousers, the next day in leather leggings and a band tee, and I’m a sucker for a flowing floral maxi dress and hoop earrings. On weekends, you’ll be likely to find me in a Breton striped tee (I have over a dozen striped knit tops) with girlfriend jeans and my Adidas Superstars. In the winter I add a leather moto jacket, in the summer a straw fedora.

I chose this romper because I have not worn a romper since I was a toddler.  While I love a jumpsuit, I find rompers neither flattering to my figure nor legs.  I also don’t understand how women wear them and remain hydrated, if you know what I mean!  I figured it I was going to do this challenge I’d go hard or go home.

I give this romper 5 stars, it has made me a romper convert!  The matte jersey fabric drapes beautifully and doesn’t cling.  The elasticized waist shows my figure while still remaining comfortable.  The legs are the right amount of fullness and length to be flattering.  Unlike many rompers and jumpsuits that have back closures, this one has shoulder zippers making getting in and out a breeze while providing a super cool style element.  And hello, pockets!

This romper is so flattering that as I wore it I had strangers remark on how much they liked it and how good I looked in it!

Since this romper makes such a statement with its unique print, I decided to keep my accessories in the same color story.  Strappy heels and off-white accents add a glam factor to take this romper into evening with ease.  In cooler weather, this romper would look great topped with a black blazer or soft jacket or even a moto jacket.

However, this romper would look adorable styled with a pop of color. The waist is perfect for adding a belt of any size and style, and the neckline is perfect for a colorful statement earring.

This romper would also dress down really well. It would look great under a denim jacket and paired with trainers or flat sandals for the weekend.
