Welcome to another installment of “Not a Model,” where Gwynnie Bee members style and play model in their favorite items. This is a great resource to see how different items look on different heights and body types, and could spark some styling inspiration for various pieces. Gwynnie Bee member Candice is a French teacher at Bethel High School in Hampton, VA, where she found a creative way to put her old Gwynnie Bee boxes to good use. “I re-purpose the boxes I receive my Gwynnie Bee shipments in by using them under the students’ desks to store textbooks and workbooks. Some of the desks do not have a wire basket underneath built into them, so the students don’t have anywhere to store their books,” Candice told us. We thought Candice’s idea was inspired: simple and useful – and we couldn’t be happier to have a hand in making her classroom that much better.

Candice’s old Gwynnie Bee boxes
What inspired you to come up with this creative idea?
I like to keep the textbooks and workbooks at the students’ desks. This cuts down on traffic and time; they don’t have to argue about who is going to get whom a book. The desks with baskets underneath are fine…we could keep the books in the basket…but the books underneath the storage-less desks were getting all over the place and were getting worn-looking very quickly. The boxes Gwynnie Bee uses are really nice and sturdy and I hated to just throw them away. I was sitting at my table one day and it hit me: use the boxes under the desks. Very simple, works great!!
What do the kids think about all of this?
I’m not sure the kids think about it too much; all they know is that have to keep the area under the desks tidy and the boxes help. They were pretty excited about the photo shoot, though. They are very supportive. I love them.
