We’ll admit to being a little skeptical about the purple lip trend that’s been popping up on runways and in editorial spreads, but after experimenting with the look ourselves, we’re sold. The key is finding a shade that complements your skin tone. We used a bright matte shade with pinky undertones on GB staffer Lisa that worked with her creamy complexion and made her blue eyes really stand out. We pulled our inspiration for the complete look from the models at Prabal Gurung who rocked cat eyes to balance out their punchy pouts.
Line your upper lash line with black liquid liner, winging outwards just past the lid crease at the outer edge.
Apply a double coat of mascara, teasing the lashes up and out.
Apply a copper or rose gold shadow to the upper and lower lids, making sure to blend the shadow subtly with the liner, slightly softening the cat eye effect.
Add a touch of shimmer to the inner eye near the tear duct to brighten the look up.
A swipe of purple lipstick finishes off the look! Be sure your lips are exfoliated and moisturized first to prevent drying and to ensure that the color goes on smoothly and evenly.
